Refined Sound for a Critical Listener
Date: October 25, 2009
I have owned the Platinum Series RadioCombo AM/FM stereo for a little over two years. Every day I turn it on I’m amazed by the full / lush sound that is rendered from such a small package. I consider myself a Hi-Fi buff with a tube audio system in my living room and this system in my bedroom. My wife and I believe that in certain ranges and musical genres the Platinum Series from Tivoli Audio out performs my $7,000 system. This is both rewarding and a little embarrassing for me since I wish I had another one for my living room.
The features are simple and of the highest quality; the hand-lacquered, polished high-gloss finish has not dulled one bit complementing out decor. I listen to all music types – Jazz, classic rock, classical, reggae, and even top 40 on the radio. All sound great whether I am just waking up or establishing a certain mood.
Prior to purchasing I completed extensive research reading every review I could find. Everyone was right, Tom DeVesto knows audio and is a highly respected innovator in the audio industry. His designs are elegant, ahead of their time and timeless.
I recommend this system to anyone looking for a terrific audio system with a big / full sound in a sleek package. You get more than you pay for.

Tivoli Fan

This is the third tivoli that I have purchased. This is our main home stereo and I just love it. When we first received it the CD payer stopped working. Tivoli sent out a new one right away. No problems since. It has good sound and ease of use. I like that you can determine the distance that the two speakers sit from each other. nice piece of equipment.

Little things
Date: October 14, 2009
A fine unit but a lot like a student project - wonderful overall but they overlooked so many little things, such as: no tone control, no way to turn the whole unit (CD plus radio) off with one switch, bass distortion with some CDs (try Stan Getz / Joao Gilberto's Jazz Samba for example), remote only controls CD player, hard to read radio dial (no light, tiny markings).
